Terms of use
Last updated: [date]
Draft. Fill in the bracketed details and have these terms reviewed by a lawyer, including the state motor-vehicle aggregator rules that apply in each city, before launch.
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and [Company legal name] ("Ride", "we"). By creating an account or using the apps you accept them. Ride is a technology platform that connects customers with independent captains; captains provide the transport service.
2. Accounts
- You must be 18 or older and use your own mobile number.
- Keep your OTP private. You are responsible for activity on your account.
- We may suspend accounts that break these terms, misuse the service or put others at risk.
3. Booking and fares
- The app shows a fare before you book. It is based on a base fare, distance, time and a minimum fare for the vehicle type.
- Tolls, parking and other charges paid on your behalf may be added.
- The trip starts only after the captain enters your trip PIN.
4. Payment
- You can pay in cash to the captain or online through our payment partner.
- For online payments, the amount is confirmed by our server with the payment partner before the ride is marked paid.
- Refunds for valid complaints go back to the original payment method.
5. Cancellations
You can cancel a ride before the trip starts. [Cancellation fee policy, if any.] Captains can also cancel before the trip starts; we will look for another captain where possible.
6. Conduct
- Treat captains and customers with respect. Harassment, violence or discrimination leads to removal.
- Do not carry illegal, dangerous or prohibited items.
- Bike customers must wear the helmet provided.
7. Captains
- Captains must hold a valid driving licence, vehicle registration and insurance, and keep them current in the app.
- Ride deducts a commission from each fare, shown in the captain's wallet. Wallet balances can be withdrawn to the captain's bank account or UPI ID.
- Captains are independent service providers and are responsible for following traffic and transport laws.
8. Safety and SOS
The SOS button alerts our safety team and helps you call emergency services. It does not replace calling 112 in an emergency.
9. Liability
To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim is limited to the fare of the ride concerned. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts at [city] have jurisdiction. Please contact our grievance officer first; most issues are solved quickly.
